Our Wedding

The Venue

<a href="https://www.ohakuririse.co.nz/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ohakuri Rise</a> is a new venue, nestled by the stunning Lake Ohakuri, and is locatedup in the hills of Taupō, about a 30 minute drive out of the city centre.

Travel From Australia

If you're flying from Aussie, you've got two airports to choose from to fly into. There are plenty of direct flights into Auckland, with it then being a 3 hour drive to Taupō. Jetstar has just added a direct Sydney to Hamilton flight. From here it is a less than 2 hour drive to Taupō. It's also a good spot to fly into if you were wanting to visit Rotorua or Mount Maunganui.

Accommodation

Our wedding lands in the middle of Easter weekend, meaning you will be best to lock in your accommodation soon, to get the best options and cheaper rates. If you choose not to stay at either of the two pick up location hotels, below are some suggestions of accommodation that will be within walking distance from the first bus pick up location.

AIRBNB

You may be keen to join up with other family members or friends attending the wedding, and book a whole home to stay in together. Airbnb isn't as big in lil ol' NZ, so if you're looking to book a whole home, you're best towiden your search to sites like <a href="https://www.bachcare.co.nz/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">bachcare</a>, <a href="https://www.stayz.com.au/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Stayz</a> and <a href="https://www.bookabach.co.nz/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">bookabach</a>. So that you have easy access to the bus, we would recommend aiming your search around Waipahihi.

DRESS CODE

There's no dress code really - but we would like you to dress formal - think garden party/cocktail.

Kiddies

As much as we would love to have everyones kids at the wedding we have decidedto have only our nieces and nephews attend the day.

GIFTS

We really DON'T expect any gifts - seriously!But for those that can't take no for answer, we will have a wishing well for you to place cards.

Finer Details

Due to our venue being about a 30 minute drive out of the main town of Taupō,we have organised buses to transport our guests to and from Ohakuri Rise. IMPORTANT: NO CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL, VAPING, OR SMOKING IN THE VEHICLES

RETURN TRIPS

For those that want to depart the celebrations a bit earlier to get back to kids- or just bed! - we will have a 15 seater departing at 9.30pm. For those remaining, the buses will depart at 11pm. All return trips will go via Wairakei Resort first, then on to Millennium Hotel.

IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE

We have limited parking spots at the venue, so if you wish to drive please let us knowsooner rather than later so we can ensure there is a park allocated for you!

UBERS & TAXIS

There are Ubers and taxis available in Taupō, but they probably won't be able tohandle a large demand, so we would advise pre booking these if needed.

Buses & Parking

For anyone arriving in Taupō a bit earlier to enjoy this beautiful place,we’d love you to join us on Thursday the 2nd from 4.30pm. We’ll be at <a href="https://www.2miletaupo.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Two Mile Bay Sailing Club</a>, right on the waters edge of Lake Taupō. ADDRESS: 331 Lake Terrace, Two Mile Bay, Taupo 3330 We’ve got a private area booked and will have a small bar tab going, so drop infor a drink and some pizzas as we kick off the wedding weekend.Children are more than welcome!

The Recovery! 

For those sticking around in Taupō, we would love to invite youalong to a relaxed and casual lake-side BBQ on the Sunday. We'll meet at 1pm - with an exact location to be advised a few days prior. We will put on the food but bring whatever you would like to drink. Kids are more than welcome to join!

Travelling from Australia

If you're flying from Aussie, you're best to fly into Auckland, and get a rental car to make the 3 hour drive from there to Taupo. If you're keen to stay in Auckland for the night, we recommend a trip to Waiheke Island (day trip or stay the night), or if you are wanting to spend a few days travelling before the wedding, the Coromandel and Mount Maunganui are beautiful spots.

As much as we love your kiddies, we ask you to have a night off, call up a sitter (we can help you organise one, just reach out), and enjoy a bubbly (or several) with us.
